I did retire from the system a year and a half ago but I knew I wasn’t finished with education. I think it’s really important to have an educator’s voice on the board, so I want to take all the experience and knowledge that I’ve learned through the past 37ish years and apply that to being board member,” Lichter said.She’ll be joined by recent winners from other Baltimore County districts who were successful in their run for office that’ll also include four soon to be appointed board of education members.Video below: New faces coming to Baltimore County Board of Education”They need to hit the ground running,” said Cindy Sexton, president of the Teachers Association of Baltimore County.The Teachers Association of Baltimore County has pledged to work alongside the new board.”There’s always a lot to be done, especially this time a year. We are looking at budgets, we are looking at staffing for next year and always what our students need, so I am ready to work with the board of ed,” Sexton said.The recently elected Baltimore County board members could be sworn in before the December meeting.Governor-elect Wes Moore will have 30 days once he takes office to sign off on those appointed school board members.
