Instead, a summer just enjoying the waves.Year after year, hurricane season leaves its mark and lives are completely turned upside down. But with each hurricane, technology, research, and data gets better… in hopes to shape the future of our spaghetti models. Hurricanes thrive off the fuel from the warmer waters. By cooling the waters, even a few degrees, a tropical system will have a harder time surviving. But how can we cool the waters?Diving hundreds of feet into the ocean, the colder waters are brought to the surface… using bubbles!For decades, Norway has used this technology, with underwater pipes. Although for the opposite reason, the concept remains the same– warming the water to prevent ice buildup in the fjords. The technology may sound far-fetched, but so far the results are promising. As tropical systems chug along the warm waters, days ahead of the projected landfall, the bubbles can be strategically positioned through fixed or mobile avenues, like ships. Just like prepping the roads for winter weather, this could be a way to prep the ocean for stormy seas.
