                  Police said a Clairton man illegally entered a school building and ran through the hallways before being tackled by officers.Leonard Robinson III, 21, of Clairton, is facing several charges related to Thursday morning’s incident.Police said they got a call about Robinson driving impaired in the area.School officials said Robinson nearly ran over four middle school students with his vehicle.Police said Robinson went through an unsecured door into the Clairton Education Center and went past security guards.Court documents said Robinson walked the hallways for nine minutes before police tackled him in a hallway.Officers said they found suspected drugs in Robinson’s pockets.Robinson faces a preliminary hearing later this month.Judy Gori works nearby the school and said, “It’s disturbing somebody can get by what security they do have, which I thought was pretty good.”The Clairton City School District said Robinson was denied entry and left the middle high school entrance, then attempted to enter the building through the elementary school. The school said security turned him away, but he got in the building through the maintenance loading dock during a delivery.Chanel Cheadle, who is a student, said, “It’s just a scary feeling, for real, because what if he was armed.”She said, “I’m just scared for like I have a niece in school and a little sister and it’s just crazy.”The superintendent, Dr. Ginny Hunt, sent a letter out to parents saying in part, “Sadly, one of our 2019 graduates attempted to enter the middle/high school main entrance yesterday, May 5. 2022, looking for some help. He told security, “this is the only place that cares about me.”Cheadle said, “It’s also sad though to see a former student, a former good student as well, it’s just sad.”The school district said it will be conducting an internal investigation.
