                  The Aiken Women’s Heart Board Benefit Show will be performed at 3 p.m. today at the Etherredge Center on the campus of USC Aiken, 471 University Parkway. Tickets are $25.                   A Black History Program will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Mine Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 1799 Johnston Highway, Johnston.                   Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through April 13 at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road, by appointment only. VITA is open to those in need of help with tax preparation and e-filing of federal and state returns. Those wishing to use the VITA service must pick up an info packet, complete the forms in the packet and call to make an appointment once all forms are completed. Forms will be available at the Weeks Center Monday, Jan. 24, through April 8. Appointments are available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Taxpayers must have a cellphone, and will be called by someone to work on their return.

                  DayBreak Adult Care Services, the City of Aiken, Trinity on Laurens and Be Well Home Services will offer an educational series titled Living, Loving and Lifelong Learning. The March class, titled Fraud will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 1, at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior and Youth Center, 841 Edgefield Ave. N.W. Kara Flanders, a certified dementia trainer at DayBreak, will be the speaker. The cost of the class is $5.                   A paper shredding fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the parking lot of Millbrook Baptist Church, 223 S. Aiken Blvd. Shredding will be done on site rain or shine. Donors are limited to three large boxes or trash bags. Cash or check donations will be taken at the time of shredding.                   Author Anthony Varallo will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the USCA Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway. The talk is part of the Oswald Distinguished Writer’s Series. Varallo will read from his written works and sign copies of his books.                   The Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum will hold a five-part lecture series titled Legacies of the Winter Colony at 3 p.m. Sundays, March 20 through April 24, at the Aiken County Historical Museum, 433 Newberry St. Lectures will be: Venues and Institutions on March 20 with speaker Linda Johnson; A Walk in the Park on March 27 with speaker Jim McNair; Hopelands Gardens and Rye Patch on April 3 with speakers Anna Dangerfield and Lil Brannon; Equestrian Legacy on April 10 with speaker Linda Knox McLean; and Fashions of the Winter Colony on April 24 with speaker Alecia Wagoner.                   A Book Tasting Around the World event will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the Aiken County Public Library, 314 Chesterfield St. S.W.                   Mental Health America – Aiken County will hold a Ray of Hope Charity Golf Event at 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, at Houndslake Country Club, 901 Houndslake Drive. The cost is $100 per player or $400 per group of four, and includes a goodie bag, golf shirt, lunch, dinner and beverage cart.                   Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays through April 13 at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road, by appointment only. VITA is open to those in need of help with tax preparation and e-filing of federal and state returns. Those wishing to use the VITA service must pick up an info packet, complete the forms in the packet and call to make an appointment once all forms are completed. Forms will be available at the Weeks Center Monday, Jan. 24, through April 8. Appointments are available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Taxpayers must have a cellphone, and will be called by someone to work on their return.

                  Story Time in the Gardens will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Rye Patch in Hopelands Gardens, 100 Berrie Road. Story Time in the Gardens will be held every Tuesday through May. There will be no Story Time on April 5. The event is free and designed for ages 8 and younger.

                  The Awesome Aiken Al-Anon group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at First Christian Church, 900 Kerr Drive. 

                  Nar-Anon Aiken For Comfort Family Group will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays in person in the conference room near the main sanctuary at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. S.W. and via Zoom. For more information, email momofoscar4@gmail.com. 

                  Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step group for men and women, meets at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cedar Creek Church, 3001 Banks Mill Road.

                  The film “Iron Jawed Angles” will be shown Saturday, March 26, as part of the Voices and Votes Democracy in America celebration.
