FARGO — Two Fargo residents were injured after a kitchen fire in north Fargo late Tuesday night, Jan. 18.
Fire Department Battalion Chief Dane Carley said they were called to a fire at 302 30th Avenue North about 9:30 p.m. and found one resident with burns on their hands, smoke in the apartment and some small spots still burning because of the cooking oil fire.
A Sanford ambulance took the resident with the burns to Sanford Health’s emergency room.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz puts forward a $2.7 billion local projects bill

ST. PAUL — Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday, Jan. 18, proposed a $2.7 billion local jobs and projects bill focused on refurbishing state buildings, fixing or replacing aging infrastructure and producing affordable housing.
The first-term Democratic-Farmer-Labor governor said the state should take advantage of the state’s strong financial position to borrow to fund dozens of projects around the state.
“We’ve got opportunities across Minnesota. These are jobs in local communities, they are geographically spread across the entire state, they focus on water infrastructure, they focus on the things that make life simply better for folks, as well as investing in the future,” Walz told reporters at a news conference at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus.
Clay County judge to resign
MOORHEAD — A Clay County judge plans to resign, according to a news release issued Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The Commission on Judicial Selection announced Judge Amber Gustafson’s resignation, along with the retirement of Stearns County Judge Kris Davick-Halfen. Both announced in December they would leave their positions Feb. 4 and May 13, respectively.
Gustafson was appointed as a Seventh District judge in Minnesota by then-Gov. Mark Dayton in April 2018. She won her first election in 2020.
Her term expires in January 2027.
