GRAND RAPIDS — Spectrum Health was recently recognized for applying technology in its acute care services by an international organization.
The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) announced results of its 2021 CHIME Digital Health Most Wired program Thursday, Oct. 7.
Spectrum Health received the highest possible mark, level 10, in the area of acute care. IT was the only acute care level 10 recipient in Michigan, and one of just nine worldwide. Spectrum was also one of four in Michigan to receive a level nine mark in ambulatory care.
“This Most Wired level 10 designation, while never a goal in itself, is great recognition of our continued focus on digital transformation and technology modernization,” stated Jason Joseph, senior vice president and chief digital and information officer at Spectrum Health. “Our goal is to make care better and more efficient, and we know technology is a key enabler to that end.
“To achieve this level of digital enablement, even in a pandemic, is really a testament to the resolve, commitment, collaboration and focus of our exceptional team.”
The Digital Health Most Wired program is an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations apply technology into clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities.
There were four separate survey areas — acute care, ambulatory care, long-term care and international acute care.
Participating organizations receive a benchmark report, an overall score and scores for infrastructure, security, business/disaster recovery, administrative/supply chain, analytics/data management, interoperability/population health, patient engagement and clinical quality/safety.
According to the CHIME website, organizations in levels nine and 10 are “leaders in healthcare technology who actively push the industry forward.” These technologies can include telehealth solutions, price-transparency and cost-analysis tools, access to data at the point of care and tools to engage patients and families throughout the care process.
