Main Event a dining and entertainment company will officially open its 45th family entertainment center at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 1 in The District in Chesterfield. They held their VIP Pre-Opening Party on Sunday and STLSportsPage.com was there to check the place out.
Former Blues player Chris Pronger was also on hand checking out the games and food.
He also signed bowling pins (shown left) and other items for an auction the facility is hosting for charity.
The party was a great chance to preview a venue that is going to be a lot of fun for families. There is a lot for families to do.
They also brought out a lot of food with a special emphasis on desserts as well as a wide assortment of alcoholic drinks. Some of the food items included a giant ice cream sundae and a special S’mores dessert. The portions of those ice cream desserts were pretty massive.
The alcoholic choices and the music choices will be appealing to adults also. If Sunday night was a real indication there were many employees and all were friendly and willing to help and explain things to newcomers.
The nearly 50,000-square-foot venue features 22 state-of-the-art bowling lanes, each with unique technology and luxury seating. Bowling fans my just choose to use it as a bowling alley or families might divide up and some play the games and others bowl while planning to meet in the restaurant area.
Throughout the facility there are games and virtual reality experiences.
The Main Event is an exciting venue with loud music and bright lights. There are flashing lights and neon throughout.
There was a crowd of at least 500 people at the VIP Party and it really didn’t seem very crowded. They passed out 400 “VIP” lanyards and those were all gone with a few more people arriving. It is very spacious inside.
One thing that looked fun was the high-flying gravity ropes (shown right).
There is also multi-level laser tag. You are playing laser tag but on multiple stories. There are billiards as well as a full-service kitchen and bar with iconic food and beverages, such as a Big Fun Super Sundae and special Shirley Temples.

Pronger tried out all the various games, enjoying the air hockey game as well as basketball.
To celebrate their opening up to the public, Main Event will invite guests to join a ribbon cutting ceremony from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will open its doors to the public beginning at 12 p.m on September 1st. The first 200 in line on opening day will receive free laser tag and free games for a year, while the first 200 in line to enter the new center the following day will receive free games for a year.
Additionally, leading up to the opening, Main Event is inviting the St. Louis community to help them locate a lost shipment of bowling pins, last seen in the Chesterfield area and are offering rewards for their safe return. Participants can have a chance to win free games for a year and one lucky winner will take home a $5,000 Main Event gift card for finding the final golden bowling pin.
For the chance to claim one of these prizes, participants should use clues shared on Main Event’s social media accounts (@mymainevent) on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to locate any one of the 10 pins hidden in local businesses throughout the Chesterfield community.
