J. Brice Bible, UB’s vice president and chief information officer, sent a message to all UB employees on July 27 regarding technology help for their return to campus.
Colleagues,
If you are returning to campus this summer after working remotely for an extended period, UBIT is here to help as you reconnect with your workplace technology.
Before you return to campus, we recommend scheduling time with your IT support staff so they can help reconnect any computers, monitors or peripherals that were taken home, and install any updates on machines that were powered off while you were away.
On your first day back, plan a few extra minutes in your schedule to ensure that the technology in your workspace is connected and working as expected:
- Sign into your computer. If your IT staff worked on your computer over the past year, you may have to click Switch Users, then enter AD followed by your UBITName.
- Reconnect your wireless devices to eduroam Wi-Fi. UB Secure will be retired in the near future; for uninterrupted service, eduroam is the preferred Wi-Fi network at UB.
- Check for any missing network drives or files. You may need to restart your computer before they are visible.
- Update your UB Phone voicemail and other settings. If you’ve forgotten your voicemail PIN, follow these steps to change or reset your voicemail PIN.
If you encounter problems during this process, contact the UBIT Help Center, online at buffalo.edu/ubit/help or by phone at 716-645-3542.
Here’s to a healthy and productive fall semester.
Regards,
J. Brice Bible
