BLACKPINK member Lisa’s long-anticipated solo debut is drawing nigh.
Following an initial report by South Korean news outlet OSEN and much fan speculation, YG Entertainment has finally confirmed that Lisa’s solo is coming soon. “BLACKPINK member Lisa is shooting a music video for her solo debut. We will be revealing more details soon,” the company shared in a statement with Hypebae on July 13. As noted by Soompi, YG also confirmed to Newsis that she “will film the music video for her new song this week” and make “her solo debut this summer.”
Among the four BLACKPINK members, the first one to put out a solo release was Jennie back in 2018, with the aptly titled single “Solo.” (Back in February, during The Show, Jennie even put a new spin on the track as a surprise gift for Blinks.) A few years after Jennie’s solo, Rosé followed suit with the release of her single album R, which included “On the Ground” and “Gone,” this March. It looks like Lisa’s turn is finally next in line.
Jennie and Rosé were also recently spotted in L.A. and YG reportedly confirmed the purpose of the trip was to work on new music. (They have since shared pictures with the likes of Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande’s producer Tommy Brown.) Jisoo, on the other hand, is preparing for her major acting debut. The oldest in BLACKPINK is currently filming a K-drama for JTBC. The working title is Snowdrop and, per Soompi, it will be penned by Yoo Hyun Mi and directed by Jo Hyun Tak. Not much is known about the project as of yet, but Jisoo will have a leading role. YG has also recently shared Jisoo’s profile on its acting branch, YG Stage.
As a quartet, BLACKPINK will be releasing a five-part project, called 4+1, this August to celebrate the fifth anniversary of their debut.
