LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Local students are getting some hands on education about culture and language.
The Hmong Cultural Immersion Summer School provides kids the chance to work in a local garden along side Hmong elders.
The effort is way to teach kids how much different cultures have in common.
“for some of these kids, they can relate it to home, it’s like ‘oh, my grandma has this at home, now i know what it is’ or ‘i’ve seen this at my house, now i know what it is.So these kids can now relate and make connections from school to home,” said preschool teacher Pahoua Vang.
It was is the third year of the effort.
