MADISON (WKOW) — A Madison band celebrated Bob Marley’s 76th birthday Saturday night at the Sylvee — but with no audience.
Instead, the whole concert was streamed live on Facebook.
Natty Nation usually hosts a birthday bash for Marley in-person, but not during the pandemic. So, they set up the livestreamed concert and opened virtual tip jars to help support the band and the people at the concert venue.
“The people who are behind the scenes are so integral to the way that the whole industry operates,” said band member Aaron Konkol. “They don’t get thanked a lot — monetarily or otherwise. And none of this could be possible without them.”
Everyone working on the concert was doing so without getting paid. They’ll all split any donations.
