Businesses all over Haywood County were struggling last year, but Waynesville Tire was not one of them.
According to the owner, Jeff McCall, 2020 was a good year.
“I was actually busier in 2020 than I was in past years,” McCall said. “I’m embarrassed to admit this, but it’s the truth. It was slow in April but starting May 1, we were busy doing what we’ve always done, working on tires and brakes. I think people weren’t flying as much and doing a lot more driving on the road.”
Fortunately, McCall didn’t have to lay off any staff members in April when business was at its slowest.
“When we got slow in April my guys came to me that they would be willing to take a day off without pay,” McCall said. “I was very blessed. Even though we’ve turned into 2021 we are very busy and doing business like we always have.”
